In addition to its beauty and fragrance, the rose is used as an ornamental flower in: cosmetics, medicine and cooking.

In most species, it is 5-15 centimeters long and pinnate, with 5-9 leaflets; the valves usually have a toothed edge, and often several small spines on the lower part of the stem. Most roses are deciduous, but there are also some species (mainly from Southeast Asia) that are evergreen or nearly evergreen.
